Movie Night Pick is a free movie & TV recommendation app. We collect as little as possible — most of your preferences live right in your own browser, and we only hold an email address if you choose to sign in or subscribe.
Last updated: July 3, 2026.
You can browse Movie Night Pick and get recommendations without giving us any personal information. We may collect information in three situations:
localStorage) so they survive reloads. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us.We use the information we collect to provide and personalize the Service: to remember your taste and queue, to recognize you when you sign in, and to send the weekly Movie Night Pick newsletter and occasional important notices about the Service. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for their own marketing.
Movie and TV information, posters, ratings, and related images shown in the app are supplied by The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. When the app requests this content, requests are made to TMDB and its image servers; your use of that content is also subject to TMDB's Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for TMDB's processing of information.
The "In the News" section shows movie- and TV-industry news headlines discovered using the GDELT Project and links out to articles hosted by third-party publishers. When you follow one of those links, you leave Movie Night Pick and go to a site we do not operate; any information you provide there is handled under that site's own privacy policy. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the content or privacy practices of external sites.
We use trusted third-party providers to operate the Service — for example, a cloud hosting and content-delivery provider to serve the website, Google for optional sign-in, TMDB for movie data, the GDELT Project for news discovery, and an email delivery provider to send the newsletter. These providers process data only as needed to provide their service.
The website itself does not set tracking cookies for advertising. We use browser storage to keep your preferences and, if you sign in, to keep you signed in. Our hosting and content-delivery providers, and Google's sign-in service, may log standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operational purposes.
Our pages load the "Fredoka", "DM Sans", and "Outfit" typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser requests these fonts, your IP address is transmitted to Google and handled under Google's Privacy Policy. We do not control, and are not responsible for, Google's processing of that information. If you prefer not to share it, you can block third-party requests in your browser.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any newsletter email, or by emailing us. You can clear your preferences and queue at any time by clearing your browser's site data for Movie Night Pick. To stop using Google sign-in, simply sign out.
We keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed or have an active account. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your account, we remove your address from active mailing lists. Preferences stored in your browser remain until you clear them.
Movie Night Pick is operated from California. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you rights over the personal information we hold about you — which, for us, is essentially the email address and account details you provide if you sign in or subscribe:
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@movienightpick.com with the subject "California Privacy Request." We verify requests using the email address associated with your subscription or account and respond within the timeframes required by law. You may also use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months. Because we do not sell or share your information, there is no sale or sharing for you to opt out of — but you can still exercise any of the rights listed above by emailing support@movienightpick.com.
The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above.
